Does Central Illinois STEM Tutoring cost anything?
No. Accounts and videos are free, and we don't take commission, run ads or accept payment for placement. Some tutors charge for lessons and say so on their profile, and some marketplace platforms are marked "Paid."
How do you keep students safe?
A person approves every tutor before they appear. Only parents and students can start a conversation, tutors can only reply, and nobody under 13 can make an account. Messages with contact details are flagged for our team, and everything can be reported. Read the full safety & privacy page.
Are you affiliated with the channels and platforms in the marketplace?
No. We're independent and none of the listed organizations are affiliated with or endorse Central Illinois STEM Tutoring. Names and logos belong to their owners.
Is it safe for my child to use a paid tutor platform?
Platforms like Wyzant publish their own tutor hiring safety tips. As a general rule, keep communication and payment inside the platform, review the tutor's profile and reviews, and sit in on the first session.
I'm a tutor. How do I join?
Create a free tutor account. Anyone 14 or older can apply, with a parent's permission if you're under 18. Our team reviews every new tutor before their channel goes public. See Teach with us.

How it works

- Approved by a personFill in your profile and our team reviews it. Your channel, videos and profile stay private until you're approved.
- Families reach out firstParents and students start conversations, and you reply. Tutors can't message anyone first.
- Keep it on the siteNo phone numbers, emails, social handles or outside links on your profile or videos. Messages that include them are flagged for our team.
- Videos from YouTubePost lessons by pasting a YouTube link. YouTube hosts the video and you keep full control of it.

Want to help?
We welcome tutors, and people who can help with outreach, resources, design or the website.
How we keep students safe.
Most of our users are kids and teens, so safety comes first. These rules are built into the site itself, not just written down.
Who can join
- Parents and guardians must be 18 or older.
- Students must be 13 or older. Nobody under 13 can create an account. A parent can create a parent account and message tutors for their child.
- Tutors and creators must be 14 or older. Tutors aged 14 to 17 need a parent or guardian's permission, and we confirm it with that parent before approving them.
Every tutor is approved by a person
A new tutor's profile, channel and videos stay private until our team reviews and approves them. We can pause or remove a tutor at any time. Tutors under 18 are shown by first name and last initial.
How messaging works
- Only parents and students can start a conversation. Tutors can reply, but can't message anyone first.
- Adult students can't message tutors who are under 18.
- Either person can close a conversation at any time.
- Messages that include phone numbers, emails, social media or outside links are still delivered, but they're flagged for our team to review.
- Please keep conversations on the site. Parents are always welcome to read along and sit in on sessions.
What our team can see
Conversations are private between the two people in them. Our team can read a conversation only when a message in it has been flagged or reported. We can see tutor applicants' email addresses and, for teen tutors, the parent or guardian contact details they gave us. Those are never shown publicly.
Reviews and testimonials
Only a parent or student a tutor has actually replied to can review that tutor, and only once. Our team reads every review and testimonial before it's published.
Videos and comments
Tutor videos are hosted on YouTube. They play in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. Comments that include contact details are hidden automatically, and reported comments are hidden until we review them.
Reporting
Use Report on any message, comment, video, review or tutor profile. Reported comments disappear right away, and reported messages go to our team. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
Your data
We store your display name, email address, account type and age range, plus anything you post. We never sell your data, show ads or handle payments. You can delete your account at any time from Account settings. That permanently deletes your profile, conversations, comments and reviews. Reports you made are kept without your name so our team can finish reviewing them.
Questions or concerns
Use the contact form and choose "A safety concern." We read every message.
